Cyborg Cycles

Cyborg Cycles are the third reincarnation of dynamo powered noise bikes in Barcelona. Joining D.I.Y. sound generators and the live coding software Tidal Cycles in one installative lofi gamelanesc algorave setting presented in the exhibition at Toplap ICLC 2025.

While pedaling you can generate sound and in the future also visuals.
The interface is a computer keyboard attached to the front handlebars of the bicycle.
Use it to code music and images from scratch as long as your endurance lasts.
Buffer capacitors enable a quick switch between riders – don’t let the Raspberry crash!
Pedal, code, and play!

Collaboration between Moritz Morast, Stefan Voglsinger, Setzkasten, Krimskramz.

Bicíclope

Bicíclope is a group of noise bikes.
For now consisting of Lola, Orbea, Rocky and Rhino. More bikes will mutate.

Overall there is an amazing global bicycle community building freak bikes, organizing “Radspiele” and regular events such as critical masses, cyclo camps, communitarian (work)spaces and much more.

The first time we saw a dynamo powered noise bike was at a festival in Austria, played and built by Gratis Kaiserin and Juhuli – named Hyper Cycles / Cyber Heikel. Together with Dodo and Chris Veigl they play wild noise shows riding their ceiber heikel and blasting their audience with lofi breakcore beats. At the Soundart Festival Klangmanifeste in 2019 in Vienna a collective “vehicle” was built to ride at an outdoor manifestation. Various bicycle enthusiast groups such as bike kitchen vienna or RAD Performance joined ideas and created a collective workshop building various moving sound generators.

Also there’s Bike kitchen Wien, Vienna’s RAD Performance since 2017.
